Murray State University, where I got my undergrad, started calling itself "Kentucky's Public Ivy University," even though there was only one building with ivy on it, and the ivy was mostly dead. The thought was that the school was trying to make itself seem older than it actually was, and thus more prestigious. This piece was made to accompany an article entitled "Just How Old IS Murray State, Anyway?". It was later hung in my BFA solo show, at 4' x 6.'
